It was announced LBI was being opened for one morning.
I got up at 5 to get gas so I could drive down. From blocks away all the police lights could be seen. Police cars surrounded the station. Armed guards stood watch. There was no gas. A line of cars blocks long waited for when gas would be delivered – hopefully in a few hours.
For my wonderful and powerful sister-in-law’s big 25th birthday I gave her this print I had taken of her. Her robe I sewed out of hand-i-wipes and I made her Power belt.
I created an installation for the home of Amy and Michael Cohen in Philadelphia. It was really fun and challenging to create something that I was inspired to do after touring their lovely home. I ended up creating what I think of as a three dimensional abstract painting. I have incorporated pieces of fabric from the Cohens’ live which I have embroidered. The fabric is protruding at different distances from the wall on thin pins.
We attended a gay-mitzvah for Andrew Mitchell – a riotous event with pink kippahs, talit, boas, and sequence.
I figured anyone going through this right of Jewish adulthood needed to receive the obligatory pen – so I sewed one for him. On the top of the box I embroidered a gold Jewish star. If anyone needs the perfect gaymitzvah present . . .
